Shape
Through our work, we have gained the respect of disabled and non disabled people alike. Shape celebrates Disability and Deaf Culture, providing a new dynamic forum for artistic, social and cultural change.
Long before legislation like the Disability Discrimination Act existed, deaf and disabled people used the arts to raise awareness of deaf and disability issues, and campaign for social equality. Today, Shape continues to support deaf and disabled artists to challenge society's perceptions, develop audiences and promote Deaf and Disability culture into the 21st century.
Services & Resources:
- Shape Tickets is an online arts booking service offering discounted tickets to disabled and deaf people.
- Projects: whether your choice concerns arts for leisure or desire for life-long learning opportunities, Shape's local Arts development projects have something to offer. Shape co-ordinates a wide range of accessible projects.
- Open the Door - Disability Access Training and Audits. Through a range of services Open the Door will ensure that every member of your organisation fully understands the needs and requirements of your deaf and disabled customers, staff and volunteers, as well as your obligations under the Disability Discrimination Act (DDA).
