Social Media and Crowdfunding
Social Media is an essential ingredient for any crowdfunding project: It acts as the perfect tool that allows for creative ideas to gain increased exposure and maximise social interaction.
Facebook and Twitter are two of the most common and widely used sites. They allow for opinions, announcements, pictures, weblinks (almost anything related to your campaign) to be shared to a larger network/community, which is why we encourage all our project owners and members to try and harness sites such as these.
Furthermore, they also act as a platform that allows for the project owner and the follower to interact with each other: Project owners can re-direct followers to their campaign; they can update their current followers and fans; they can share pictures; they can even try and entice further support by targeting a particular audience within the larger network (such as a Facebook group or event).
We, as a company, have our own Facebook and Twitter pages for similar reasons. We want to share the latest news, or our favourite project of the day with our members. We want to allow for them to express their own opinions and make comments if they want to. The more interaction a community has, the closer it becomes. This is partly why we’ve created a new Facebook competition.
This competition is completely free to enter and will raise the profile of any crowdfunding campaign. The prize for the competition is a £250 pledge from PleaseFund.Us to the crowdfunding project that has the most votes. The project can be on any platform and all projects must be entered by 31st January. The votes period will commence for 2 weeks after the entry closing date, and the winner will be announced on the 14th February: A gesture of love on the day of love.
Regardless to whether you’re a fan of social media or not, if you haven’t already got a Facebook or Twitter account then we suggest you sign up. By doing so you will allow for your idea to be shared amongst a much larger network of supporters, and you will be able to update your followers with continuous updates of your campaign (a vital attribute for any crowdfunding project). We also advise any project owner to create a separate profile, specifically for their project, and to use this as well as their personal profile to rally the crowd and garner their support.
